Quality and environmental management in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001.

Responsibility begins now.

As a technology orientated company we undertake to use resources sparingly and to respect the need for sustainability in the context of the environment.

To guarantee lasting environmentally-friendly development and to achieve continual improvement, Kässbohrer has now implemented comprehensive environmental management in all business processes and is certified in accordance with the internationally recognised environmental management standard ISO 14001:2001.

Measures for more environmental sustainability and even higher quality:

  • Energy recovery was built into both test facilities, in which every vehicle undergoes strict testing before delivery.
  • Heat recovery in the paintshop to reduce heating energy needs.
  • Upgrading to more efficient and more environmentally-friendly electrostatic finishing procedures.
  • Suction-adhesive devices at all assembly stations.
  • Switch in track production from pneumatic screw drivers to electric screw drivers to save energy and to increase quality thanks to greater process security.
GREEN IQ is Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG's concept for PistenBully with economical engines and exhaust technology.

Think Green in Red!

Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG presented its sustainability commitment under this slogan at the SAM 2012 in Grenoble. As technology leader Kässbohrer is of course the pioneer when it comes to the development of environmentally-friendly snow groomers too. When developing new vehicle technologies Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG always remains conscious of the environmental impact. That's why the vehicles presented at the SAM were all equipped with engines that meet the strict TIER 4i exhaust emission standards.

PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept and PistenBully E+ are two vehicles that represent the Laupheim company's exemplary commitment to sustainability.
The PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept is Kassbohrer's first series PistenBully with a diesel/gas hybrid drive: Up to 33 % of the diesel can be replaced using the gas mixture. If you use environmentally-friendly natural gas the pollutant emissions are reduced, particularly NOx and fine dust particles. Moreover, natural gas is cheaper than diesel and saves on operating costs.
The engine technology of the PistenBully 600 E+ consumes up to 20 % less fuel and emits less CO2.

GPS-data provide valuable information for the operators in ski resorts.

Treating resources with respect: slope management with SNOWsat.

The sustainability aspect is not only important to Kässbohrer when it comes to developing new vehicles. With SNOWsat the company is offering an integrated navigation system for snow groomers based on GPS data and the latest inertial technology. In addition to slope management, SNOWsat also provides valuable data on snow depth. This function facilitates very targeted snow placement and grooming of the slopes, which has a clear positive effect on resource management, because less water and energy is consumed.

PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept in operation.

With the PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept, Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG presents the first PistenBully with a diesel/gas drive which is suitable for series production: up to 33% of the diesel can be replaced by a gas admixture. If environmentally-friendly natural gas is used, exhaust emissions are reduced especially levels of NOx and fine dust particles. In addition, natural gas is cheaper than diesel and saves on operating costs.

With the use of biogas, additional CO2 emissions can be saved and the engines run on renewable fuel. Through the development of a natural gas filling station, Salzburg AG is able to offer natural gas as fuel even in those alpine areas where no natural gas pipelines are located. As natural gas does not provide a threat to ground water, the mobile natural gas station is an environmentally friendly alternative to diesel filling stations especially in alpine areas.

The Bergbahnen Kitzbühel were the first using the serial biogas PistenBully. Project Manager, John Schmidhuber, from the Salzburg AG: "As we use CO2-neutral biogas to power the vehicle, this means 37 tons of CO2 can be saved each year." The PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept has also been demonstrating its impressive performance at Zell am See and Tauplitz.

Especially noteworthy: in spite of the natural gas or biogas admixture, there is no difference regarding the handling and performance of the PistenBully 600 Dual Fuel Concept to that of the conventional diesel drive.

The Dual Fuel Concept System can be retrofitted on all PistenBully 600 Standard vehicles.
