Which primary school has the best biathletes? A somewhat unusual question, which was answered on Saturday 9th July in Dornstadt. The occasion was the final of the PistenBully Cup held at the PistenBully Biathlon Centre of the DAV Ulm.
First of all, Ulm's biathletes went to visit primary schools throughout the region. 250 third and fourth-grade children took part and got stuck into the wintry battle. Not on snow to start with of course, but in their school halls. They had to show coordination, concentration, endurance and a little accuracy, as the DAV Ulm had also brought the laser shooting range along with them. The kids had to master a specially prepared course as quickly as possible.
The same abilities were in demand again on 9th July. Five children from each age group represented the boys and girls from each school. They were supported by lots of their fellow pupils and parents, who cheered on their teams at full volume. The participating schools were Lonequell-Schule Urspring, Friedrichsau-Schule Ulm, Grundschule Vöhringen Süd and Bühl-Grundschule in Dornstadt.
Congratulations to all the winners - and: stick with it!
Lots of people came to cheer on the little athletes. And took the opportunity to have a look at the DAV's PistenBully Biathlon Centre in Dornstadt.
